Population Served
Individuals who have a severe or complex communication difficulty associated with a range of physical, cognitive, learning or sensory deficits. An individual must understand the purpose of a communication aid, have developed understanding beyond cause and effect and may have experience of using low tech AAC which is insufficient to enable them to realise their communicative potential.
Services Provided
- Assessment and provision of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solutions (for example electronic communication aids with voice output for people without speech) for individuals that meet the criteria for assessment by a specialised communication hub.
- Support with training and development of local AAC services.
